When 2 Crows Brewing opened a few years ago they offered a Table Beer at 3.5%. At that time it was novel and bucked the trend of 7.5% milkshake IPAs. It was refreshing (no pun intended). I’ve since seen a couple more at local breweries and always try them as I can see it being much more difficult to make a tasty light beer than it is to make a hop bomb with a ton of lactose.
Zip is also from 2 Crows Brewing with an alcohol content of only 2.8%. Must say, not a fan. Not because it lacks flavor (quite the opposite) the strong flavors aren’t really to my taste. Too tart and too much coriander. Took me more than an hour to get through it. Also, pricing sucks. This one was $4.
I really like the idea of ultra light beers though. Is this a beginning of a trend in your breweries?

Not at all. Richmond is a hop bomb hot spot. Some breweries buck the trend, but the top tier ones all typically stick to the popular styles, and nail them.

There are actually good NA beers around now too. Brewdog Hazy AF and Athletic Brewing IPA come to mind .

The bread and butter of 2 Crows is still sours but they always make an effort to have a
can of
light beer. Light o
fferings
from other breweries
may be due to seeing 2 Crows at the award ceremonies
.

I was just

Have you
heard
about
Guinness 0.0

I won’t if you’ll get the Aldi/Brewdog beer at Aldi in the U.S.
Aldi did a beer and the design looked a lot like a Brewdog design,
So with banter back and forth,
they teamed up and Brewdog did an IPA for Aldi.

Look for "session" ales. They are low alcohol easy drinkers without being "light beer"

My favorite local session seemed to be having some quality control issues so for the p
ast few mo

. Love that style!

We might. We do randomly get some European-sourced beers at Aldi here on occasion.

I hear the newest invention is adding rum to Coca-Cola. It’s just an idea though.
I would really like that stuff for summer, but my summer drink is Magner’s Pear Cider.

I know at least one local brewery has what they call a Nano IPA at 2% - I’m sure there are others.

It's starting to sound like it may be a Canadian thing.

Ciders are off the hook here. This year our #2 craft beer store lost a whole beer cooler to ciders. $20 barrel aged ciders can be found and many breweries are doing beer/cider blends.
